NEJM Reports Calcium with Vitamin D Has No Impact on Osteoporotic Patients

“Calcium plus Vitamin D Supplementation and the Risk of Fractures”

The  New England Journal of Medicine recently reported unexpected results of two studies conducted on postmenopausal women, and concluded that “calcium with vitamin D supplementation did not significantly reduce hip fracture”.1

NIH GAIT Study - Glucosamine and Chondroitin alone did not not reduce pain

The National Institutes for Health (NIH) reported  on "Glucosamine, Chondroitin Sulfate, and the Two in Combination for Painful Knee Osteoarthritis"

Conclusions Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate alone or in combination did not reduce pain effectively in the overall group of patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. Exploratory analyses suggest that the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate may be effective in the subgroup of patients with moderate-to-severe knee pain.2
